about

"Bass players have a certain ease of writing and many of them (and I’m not just talking about Jazz), are intriguing and prolific authors. I can think of Steve Swallow, Avishai Cohen, of course Dave Holland, and Paul McCartney as Sting... I have known Antonello in the Conservatory since, student of our courses, he immediately distinguished himself as a skilled instrumentalist but not only. Almost immediately, the way he uses his compositional material is characterized by the attention to detail, the color dictated by organic and the formulation of structures not at all obvious. If already in his debut album focusing on the string quartet, cross and delight of a certain musical production, shows to have clear ideas, in this new project he develops a definite figure that for melodic quality and poetic suspension, finding a matrix straddling an imaginary folklore and a dreamlike fairy-tale vision of a certain songwriting.
Antonello therefore, for the determination, the meticulous research and for the connection between emotional impact and unpredictability, carves out a place within a very authoritative perimeter made of signatures already active for many decades."

Roberto Ottaviano

Antonello Losacco’s new album has a strong connection with his previous record production and in particular the latest album Respira (GleAM Records 2022/IRD).
To inspire the compositions some suggestions that fascinate the author: the perception of time, the mysterious emotions and sensations that lies behind a look, the “worlds beyond” human understanding, hardly explicable by words.
The compositional style has a strong descriptive component and refers to cinematic sounds, which are intertwined with european and contemporary jazz, maintaining a strong sense of melody and a formal and timbric refinement in the arrangements.
The line-up on the album consists of a basic trio: vibraphone, 7-string bass and drums.
The proposed sound texture is unique; where the interweaving of the sounds of the vibraphone and drums, meet the great harmonic, melodic and rhythmic potential of the 7-string bass (rare instrument and very wide register) in a continuous circular exchange.
The trio is joined by soprano sax by Roberto Ottaviano (tracks 1, 4 and 9) and vocals by Badrya Razem (track 4).
