about

‘’Entering the studio with Gianmarco and the guys, I discovered a young guitarist whose sound and feeling defy his age. His endless flow of ideas made playing alongside him a pleasure. I foresee great things in his future and am delighted to be part of this recording with his fantastic band.’’
Dave Kikoski

"On the Scene" is an exciting collaboration between the young and talented guitarist Gianmarco Ferri, rising star of the Italian jazz scene and the renowned American pianist David Kikoski, authentic master of contemporary Jazz who contributed significantly to the project, bringing his piano mastery and his musical sensitivity to add depth and complexity to the tracks.
The album also features Stefano Battaglia on double bass, Luca Santaniello on drums and Marcello Allulli on tenor saxophone on the ballad So Close.
The leader selects for this session 4 original compositions and 3 standard reinterpretations, highlighting his consolidated relationship with the tradition of jazz and his look forward with a sound markedly postbop. His jazz combines harmonic research, melodic originality within the bop language and a joyful and dynamic rhythmic approach. His idea of swing, in fact, embodies the burning desire to express themselves and connect with others through the unifying power of music and movement.
