GleAM Records is proud to announce the release of the album Modern Art Trio by Franco D’Andrea, Bruno Tommaso and Franco Tonani, one of the most important records of european jazz, now in its fourth remastered edition. An impressive work of audio restoration commissioned by the producer Angelo Mastronardi and realized thanks to the lucky discovery of the original tape by the publisher Luca Sciascia and carefully restored and mastered by the sound engineer Jeremy Loucas in the United States.
The album will be available in limited edition on Vinyl 180 gr. (single pocket with an original booklet) and on CD (gatefold format with an enriched booklet), from November 10th, 2023 and distributed by IRD International Distribution.
“The Modern Art Trio was officially born in Rome between March and April 1968 on the initiative of Franco Tonani and Franco D’Andrea. The idea was to set up a trio that would give a rational order to free music and the sound galaxy that gravitated around it. It was like a leap in the dark and without a net, an exploration of unknown lands.
The distinctive contribution of the Modern Art Trio to jazz experimentation is the use of serialism. In the Modern Art Trio project there was no detachment from jazz, but at most some form of contamination: afroamerican music was the starting point of daring experiments (the serialism and the system of intervallic areas) that sought new paths without leaving the field of jazz.”
