Underbrush is the first project led by drummer and composer Federico Chiarofonte. The name refers as much to an interior undergrowth as a safe place where reflections take place, as to a hidden social undergrowth within which flourishing forms of culture and musical ecosystems develop.
The titles of the pieces are literary, refer to biology or are simply autobiographical and are hermetic clues about the sound narrations presented.
The eight songs that make up "Underbrush" fit into the context of contemporary jazz language presenting a version metabolized and influenced by musical influences derived from sensitivity, from the first investigations and experiments of the composer and the improvisational contribution and interpretations of the pianist Vittorio Solimene and the double bass player Alessandro Bintzios.
