“Where I Come From” è un lavoro di ricerca iniziato nel 2012, nato come diario su elementi delle tradizioni musicali popolari incontrate nelle tournée in Italia, Spagna, Balcani, India, Nord Africa, Medio e Sud America. La musica è passata di mano in mano tra moltissimi artisti, eseguita in varie formazioni e con diversi ensemble.
Al centro di tutto c’è la meditazione sul concetto di Identità, che se da un lato ci ha riportato a casa, riconoscendone diversamente i confini, dall’altro ci ha spronato a ridefinirne le geografie. Il nostro confronto ci ha portato a scavare in profondità nelle nostre tradizioni per circoscrivere, riconoscere e sviluppare sotto una nuova luce quegli elementi che ereditiamo dalla parte più antica della nostra cultura.
Le composizioni sono ispirate alla musica di tutto il mondo, inglobando suggestioni delle tradizioni musicali popolari mediterranee e sudamericane ed elementi dell’estetica musicale del Novecento. Pensiamo sinceramente che la biodiversità culturale sia essenziale per lo sviluppo antropologico della specie umana. Nella nostra vita e nella nostra musica portiamo l’eredità di culture diverse, popoli diversi ed epoche diverse, di cui abbiamo assorbito assiomi e peculiarità, nei viaggi e nella vita di tutti i giorni.”

Against the current trend of the music industry, Pasquale Calò starts from a long musical exploration conducted with his quartet, over a period of 10 years, consolidating the writing and sound of the ensemble in long tours around the world.
His music has thus been able not only to define itself in the arrangements but to absorb suggestions from the places with which the artist came into contact, determining reflections and choices related to an enlarged concept of identity. The set list is divided into ten tracks, each of which expresses a precise function within the concept.
